9. The Life, Death, and
Resurrection of Christ: In
Christ's life of perfect obedience to God's will, His suffering, death,
and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin,
so that those who by faith accept this atonement may have eternal life,
and the whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love
of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of
God's law and the graciousness of His character for it both condemns our
sin and provides for our forgiveness. The death of Christ is substitutionary
and expiatory, reconciling and transforming. The resurrection of Christ
proclaims God's triumph over the forces of evil, and for those who accept
the atonement assures their final victory over sin and death. It declares
the Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth
will bow.

[JOH 3:16-17]  For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.

~Christ Is Our Example
[1 CO 15:3-4]  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: [1 CO 15:20-22]  But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [2 CO 5:14-15]  For the love of Christ constraineth us because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. [2 CO 5:19-21]  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. [ROM 1:4]  And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: [ROM 3:25]  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God [ROM 4:25]  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. [ROM 8:3-4]  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [1 JO 2:2]  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. [1 JO 4:10]  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [COL 2:15]  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. [PHI 2:6-11]  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  |
